How about an undead thing that gets it's power from how many corpses you 'feed' it. Something like:

Summon Demon [E]
25E
4 casting time
45 recharge time
Cast this spell to animate a demon. Demons do not have degen but take 15% more damage vs. physical. You can only have 1 demon at a time, but everytime you cast this spell with a demon nearby, it consumes another soul and it's max health goes up by 20, and is also fully healed.

I'm waiting for a Cabalist or Demonologist class to come out to deal with demons.
I mean, necromancer can summon things made out of dead matter and bring it to unlife. They do not procure demons out of nowhere. They do not really have the power to. They are not necro-demon-mancers, they are necromancers. Death-Mancers. Leave the demons to a more suited class.

I like the mummy, and the bone-scarab ideas though

Yes, Hellhounds! That's what I was thinking about. Those things look cute, too. Nothing wrong with a cute undead thing for a break.

Yea... I kinda want another summoner as well. I mean we did get the Rit, but Rit summons are kind of too stationary. Like a Druid/Demonologist/Conjurer kinda thing would be nice. Nightfall gives us a melee spell caster and a ranged tactics warrior. Perhaps Ch 4 will have a new summoner? Something to challenge MMs. :-o

My thought exactly... I started off with a N/Rt and eventually changed to N/R. The Pet is working out nicely so far, and I'm actually using some of the enemy movement skills (something I didn't think I'd do) to help 'corral' the bad guys.

How bout something like this:

Grenth's Pact. (E)

Sacrifice 10 bone horrors to summon Grenth (lvl 50). Grenth will have health equal to the total health of the sacrificed horrors. This spell requires 16 death magic, causes exhaustion and requires 90% of your maximum health. (Grenth has an AL of 120 and attacks 50-100, with 20% armor penetration versus monks) As long as Grenth is in the mortal realm, all surrounding creatures will receive half healing from monk skills. When Grenth returns to the Underworld, you die. Grenth's pact cannot be cast while Grenth is already in the mortal realm. His health does not degenerate.

requires 30 energy
5 sec casting time
60 sec recharge

You sell your soul and in return Grenth himself comes to punish your enemies.

I like the idea of two corpses to create a bigger minion, but only if it counted as two minions. A Bone Dragon would be a viable idea, but I'd say it should be slightly different than that even. The size of a Bone Dragon, I'd say should require three corpses to create one and take the slots of three minions, however I could see it being a non-elite as long as they didn't make the level outrageous. Controlling three Bone Dragons and one Flesh Golem would max out your minion count but give them more longevity...

So, Animate Bone Dragon, Exploit three nearby corpses to animate a Bone Dragon, Bone Dragons have both melee and ranged attacks, and take three times the effort to maintain.

or something like Animate Abomination : Exploit two nearby corpses to animate an abomination, due to their size they require twice the effort to maintain. When a nearby creature dies Abominations lose all degeneration.

Or Animate Lich : Exploit nearby corpse to animate lich, liches use ranged attacks and are immune to physical damage.

maybe something like:
Animate Flesh Pod : Flesh pod is imobile, but when Flesh Pod dies one nearby creature is targeted by "Ravenous Terrors". Ravenous terrors do not count as minions, they attack for ten seconds and die. If an enemy dies while being attacked by Ravenous Terrors, it leaves a flesh pod instead of an exploitable corpse.

I do like the idea of multiple corpse monsters but I'm not sure if it would be harder to implement.

What about the revive spell from diablo2? It could be elite with like a 30 second recharge. Reviving could be unable to be used on bosses etc. to make for balancing.

It could still be fun, getting to have amfah laying traps or kappas for water eles etc.

A few ideas:

Animate Bone Commander [elite]
cost:15 cast:3 recharge:20
Exploit nearest corpse to animate a level 1...14 Bone Commander. While you control Bone Commander, all of your other minions in the area deal 1...9 additional damage with each attack. You may not control more than one Bone commander at a time.

Animate Bone Terror
cost:25 cast:3 recharge:5
Exploit nearest corpse to animate a level 1...14 Bone Terror. Bone Terrors may attack one additional adjacent enemy.

Summon Err=7
Energy: 15 Recharge:Every Morale boost

Summon 1 Err=7 demon. This monster picks one random (but usually a monk) enemy and that enemy Err=7's and the monster is destoyed.

Probably,Anet will give us something tht we had already seen like the phantoms the Vizier summoned to aid us in some parts of the game...or the aquatic/scale-like looking bone creatures....

Oh,how bout this, the executioner,or the ghouls maybe?? Otherwise i think it will have to be undead scarabs or liches...

Nah, but if the monster gets a critical hit one other party member is stuck in the ground.

I just like to see less time spent keeping them alive. It is more fun to have them move from point a to point b without healing every bit of the way.It would be good if it was like skellies in D.

Animate Pulsating minion

Cost:15 cast:3 recharge:5

Selected corpse is exploited to summon a level 1-12 pulsating minion, pulsating minions cannot attack and leave a lvl 1-12 death nova when destroyed.

(The could be programed like the where holding a item and walk up to oppopents, blocking them and a controlled time bomb, they cannot attack to balance thier effect and they would look abit like the carrier flood on Halo)

Animate Bone Dragon [E]

Cost 10 Cast:1 recharge:30 Upkeep:1<

Cast Animate bone dragon on an selected ally (who also has animate bone dragon) that ally then casts Animate bone dragon on you. The next explotable corspe created creates a level 10-30 Bone Dragon. The bone dragon sufferes no health degeneration while both upkeeps are kept and suffers from half the normal degeneration if one upkeep is kept. Only one bone dragon can be summoned per party/allied group.

(This is an idea to balance the dragon, instead of using two corpses it uses upkeep and a one minion slot on each necro, the dragon would be powerful, use close ranged slashing damage, long ranged piercing damage and has the monster skill deafening roar. The skill would auto target the closest mm with the skill and only one per team on AB's)

Inspire Fear.

Cost:10 cast:1 Recharge 45

For 10-30 seconds foe around elite Animated minions suffer a 5-15% moral decline.

(This is good to give a DP to a group, would work on golems or the dragon above, could be used with multiple cordinated MM's with a golem each to give a constant DP to them foes but the effect cannot be stacked)
